Have you seen this Lowe’s commercial with the tag line “Never Stop Improving”?
Did you really listen to the singer in the background? If not, here’s your chance:
A desperate attempt to sound like Amy Winehouse. I dont care that the singer is some unknown 23 year old gal named Gin Wigmore, from New Zealand with a song title “Don’t Stop.” Darling, you were chosen by Lowe’s because your sound is biting off the late and great Amy.
So, I’m not feeling it. Sure, I’m biased for a number of reasons (one of those reasons being that I love the raw sound of Amy’s voice and of course the other being that I’m pretty hip to all the crafty ways people try to get around compensating artists for use of their name, image, and likeness.) The unique sound of one’s voice is included in likeness and I think Lowe’s is trying to have its cake and eat it too.
